Learning aim A: Understand the applications and features of digital graphic products:

Before you can start creating your own graphics it's a good idea to review other people's graphics. This will help you to identify bad features and help you incorporate some of the better features into your own designs.

You are going to create the following graphics for use in the Recycle with Michael Campaign:

  • Recycle with Michael Logo (VECTOR)
  • A5 advertisement for the Recycle with Michael Campaign (BITMAP)

It is therefore a good idea to look at samples of each of these before beginning the design process

Activity 1

Have a look at the following graphics. You will see the following:

From the graphics you looked at choose:

  • 1 Logo
  • 1 Advertisement

(Download the samples you have chosen and save into your GRAPHICS folder - do this by right clicking the image and choosing Save Target As ....)

Activity 5

To access the higher grades you need to provide an overall summary of your review of the logo and advert. This summary will incoporate everything you have written presviously and assess whether or not the logo and advert you chose to review are fit for purpose.

To achieve the criteria covered by this task, you must show that you are able to:

  • Explain the intended purpose and features of at least two different graphic products 2A.P1
  • Review how the products are fit for purpose and their intended effect on the audience 2A.M1
  • Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the graphic products 2A.D1

If you have not achieved the Level 2 criteria, your work will be assessed to determine if the following Level 1 criteria have been met. To achieve the Level 1 criteria, you must show that you are able to:

  • Identify the intended purpose and features of two different graphic products 1A.1
